Is a new look part of your New Year’s resolution? During Spring 2012 Fashion Week, the runways of New York featured this year’s hottest styling trends for you to steal. The following are some tips and products to help you achieve the trendiest looks this year.

T3 Featherweight hair dryer1. Angular Bangs

Asymmetrical ’dos are here to stay in 2012, as Marc Jacob’s models sported angular bangs down the catwalk. To make this bang style look less like a self-haircut gone wrong, use the Shin-Aid Pomade by Philip B. to give your fringe a raked, texturized look. Sweep your bangs to the side and hold the look all day with the Advanced Sheer Holding Spray by Frederic Fekkai.

2. Glossy Bed Head

Hair guru Paul Hanlon brought back the bed-head look, but added a touch of shine. (Imagine hair slicked back with gel and slept on overnight.) To get this look, protect your locks with the Pronto Dry Heat Protect Spray from Oscar Blandi; blow-dry your hair back so it looks like you were facing the wind using a T3 Featherweight hair dryer and a round hairbrush from Philip B. Spread a bit of Frederic Fekkai’s Nonchalant-Piecing & Forming Wax through your mane, followed by Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Gloss Instant Glossing Cream. Rake your fingers through your hair, and set the style with hairspray.

3. Twisted Tresses

Braided headbands are moving out and simple-to-make twists are taking their place. Take a look at Lela Rose’s models for proof. For a fresh, feminine look, make a side-part at the front of your head. Gather two small sections of hair where you part begins and twist them together once or twice. Hold the two strands in one hand to combine them. Grab the next section of hair along your hairline with your other hand and twist the sections of hair in each hand together. Repeat this process until you reach the back of your ear. Use an elastic band to secure the twisted hair. If your hair is prone to flyaways or is on the frizzy-side, use the Anti-Frizz Formula 57 from Philip B. before you begin styling your tresses. Finish the look with Oscar Blandi’s Olio di Jasmine Shine Spray.
