To radiate from within. To seem as if they're walking on water. To look glamorous whilst still capturing the natural beauty they were born with. The Golden Globe actresses last night simply took my breath away with many bringing back one of my favorite trends: ethereal beauty. Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara (ok, maybe she was channeling he dark side of ethereal), Heidi Klum, Elle Macphereson, Emma Stone rocked my fashion core. Channel and recreate the major beauty trends of the Golden Globe awards by following these steps:
First off ladies, it's all about the preparation. Unless you're divinely blessed which let's face it only a select few of us are then we have to work, work, work for perfection and that all comes down to taking care of our skin. I know it's not always a sexy topic, but at the end of the day prepping your skin with a mask or serum can really make your makeup ever better! If you don't trust me, then trust Hollywood because most of them swear by GLAMGLOW. Created in Hollywood, for Hollywood, and little people like you and me of course, the GLAMGLOW Mud Mask! Quickly becoming a b-glowing staff favorite, this miracle mask gently exfoliates your face with green tea leaves and miracle mud dredged from the exotic South of France will leave your skin glowing from the inside out.
Let's talk about the mane. Up-do's, french chignon, 60's beehive, or Elvira Adams straight, there was plenty to talk about in the hair style department. However, I'm a sucker for soft waves a la Elle Macpherson who look absolutely stunning last night in a gorgeous gown and her signature beach tousled hair. The woman doesn't look a day over 35! To recreate her soft romantic curls it's all in the tools baby and my favorite is T3's Single Pass Whirl Curling Wand. It has a tapered barrel to allow for a loose and distressed curl that doesn't look so darn perfect which is exactly what we want! With all of T3 hair styling tools, the heat chosen remains the same throughout the entire styling process which also cuts your hair prep time in half!
The ladies really let the gowns speak for themselves and the majority left their makeup minimal but still intoxicatingly come-hither beautiful. I do love a bit of eyeliner though and Hollywood darlings Emma Stone and Zooey Deschanel really made their blue eyes pop with some upper and lower black eyeliner. Sometimes this can be a difficult task to manage without a steady hand so a fantastic brush is always handy. Pre-order one of my favs, the Waterproof Gel Eyeliner from Paul & Joe's Spring 2012 Meow Collection. Whether you want a sultry cat eye or not, it comes with a fantastic brush to give you a professional application.
There were a few bold lips on the Golden Globes red carpet but mostly nude and subdued. A beauty rhyme! Nude lipstick can be a hard look to pull off as it can sometimes wash out your face if you choose the wrong coloring or consistency. In my opinion, when doing a nude lip you should go for more of a sheer formulation and then add a gloss. I love the Hi-Shine Hydrating Glosstick in Turtle Bay by Jemma Kidd Makeup School because it has more of the glamour of a gloss but long lasting color like you would get of a lipstick. Also, if you have dry lips sometimes lipstick can make them look even dryer by getting stuck in the cracks but the Gloss Stick is ultra hydrating!
I always believe in adding gloss and what better one to set off the ethereal look then the Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Starfish by Jouer Cosmetics. It has a peachy, champagne shimmer that will work beautifully with the lipstick and is loaded with nourishing ingredients of Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil.
Recreate your own Golden Globes beauty moments at home with these products and I'll see you at the Academy Awards!
It was all glamour and sophistication at last night’s 2012 Golden Globe awards. I watched the stars traipse down the red carpet looking for the most part stunning (didn’t care for Mila Kunis or Lea Michelle’s look, but whatever.) What continually caught my eye was the general trend for simple make-up and muted or nude lips. Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Kate Beckinsale, Stacy Kiebler – they all kept their lips very neutral so that their eyes and fabulous dresses were the main focus. These soft lip looks made Hollywood’s hottest women look beautiful, feminine and completely enviable.
Recreating lips like these is easy with the right lip stick and gloss.
The Hydrating Lipstick in Veronika by Jouer Cosmetics is the perfect neutral lip color. Its soft color has a slight shimmer to give your lips that star-like quality without being over the top. This smooth lipstick is made of moisturizing Brazilian Cupuacu Butter so it also protects your lips and provides beautifully smooth coverage.
Layer the Veronika with Armour Beauty’s Gypsy Shimmer Lip Gloss. This sheer light peach gloss has a touch of gold shimmer to add shine and a little drama. The color and shine is ultra-feminine and long-lasting, perfect for a glamorous night out.
