Butter London Backstage at New York Fashion Week!

Bookmark and Share Posted on 09/16/2011

To keep with all things fashion related due to New York Fashion Week I thought it would be fun to write about one of our favorite nail polish brands, Butter London. I had the pleasure of speaking with the super gorgeous and trendy creator of this in demand lacquer range, Nonie Creme, at the pop up shop at Milk Made Studios in West Village.

Even more exciting, Nonie and her team have been lacquering many a model behind the edgiest designers at New York Fashion Week. I got to see a glimpse inside the madness when I followed her backstage for the Yigal Azrouel show, where it was all about vampy sex appeal. Nonie and the girls used La Moss, which is a vixenish deep red. Picture goblets of red wine overflowing and you'll get the picture. The shade looked amazing and really popped against the more muted makeup the models were sporting.

For the Zero & Maria Cornejo runway show, Nonie 2 coats of Hen Party with the Matte Finish Top Coat which is more of a sheer, opal lacquer.

From clothing to lingeire, Tea With The Queen was used on VPL's models. More of a tan shade with a pink undertone, this lacquer really speaks of romance and can be worn as a great all around weekly nail polish.

For Electric Feathers, the gold, Bowie-esque shade of The Full Monty was used in one narrow strip down the center to recreate the gold reconstructed manicure. Also use West End Wonderland as a great substitute.

"THE" Shade for Autumn 2011-Butter London's Wallis! » -

If you like to follow the latest fashion and beauty trends to hit the catwalks of New York and Europe then might we suggest a nail polish shade that has interestingly been all the rage--green. Yes, green has occasionally been considered a "dirty" color, but according to Butter London's Creative Director Nonie Creme,  "dirty" is the new rage.

The nail trends for Autumn/Winter 2011 are all about reflecting a luxe-grunge persona, and your lacquers should be reminiscent of a dirty, tarnished jewel so to speak. Instead of the bright deep red of a ruby, choose a garnet; or a dirty teal instead of a sapphire.

«The Inside Scoop On Cult Beauty Products -

Ever heard of a cult product? No, it's not what you think. I'm not talking about the go-to products that people actually living in a cult would use, but cult in the sense that a select portion of people know about them and swear by them as "the-best," and  "the-only," product they will use. These cult products travel by word of mouth, from friend to a friend and the popularity carries on from there. These products might not even be mass produced or marketed but somewhere, if you're lucky enough, you may be able to get that whisper in the ear for the best moisturizer around...

Thank me later. I'm going to provide you that little whisper in the ear because we actually carry a lot of these "cult" beauty products at b-glowing!
