Makeup brand ELLIS FAAS was the cosmetics brand behind the dewy skin and natural lips seen at the VPL Autumn/Winter runway show at this February's New York Fashion Week. Makeup artist Romy Soleimani used an assortment of the products to create an approachable and natural look, with the focus being on the eyes. Romy used ELLIS FAAS Skin Veil Foundation to createa a dewy base, then ELLIS FAAS Eye Lights in E301 to highlight the inner corners of the eye as well as the upper cheekbones and finished off the look with ELLIS FAAS Concealer in S201 to lighten the lips. Romy said, "The overall effect was an ethereal skin, and the highlight of the cheek created a flash as the models walked down the runway."
Since Imitation's models had the best looking skin at last years Fashion Week it was no wonder skyn ICELAND was invited back again to prep the model's skin to perfection and make sure they had the perfect canvas to apply the finishing stage: makeup! Goody bags were in abundance as well as founder Sarah Kugleman giving out "stress tests" backstage! Yes, I know their lives seem perfect but even models can be under backstage stress, running from show to show and constantly being primped, poked and squezzed into outfits for four days in a row. skyn ICELAND estheticians were also on hand backstage to calm and detoxify model's skin by doing mini facials. To create your own runway worthy prepped skin follow these steps from skyn ICELAND.
Step 1: Cleanse & remove make-up with self foaming Glacial Cleansing Cloths.
Step 2: Exfoliate with Nordic Skin Peel.
Step 3: Prep eyes with Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels for 5 minutes to depuff and diminish dark circles.
Step 5: Treat eyes with Icelandic Relief Eye Cream.
As the days roll on during the countdown of Fashion Week as always each brand has created a key look that represents what the brand is trying to exude for that season. BCBG was all about the low maintenance girl. Throw your hair in a low pony, whip on some gloss and you're out the door yet still dressed fabulously. From totally minimalist down to a rocker edge there seems to have been a bit of bi-polar-esque looks across the runways...
At the Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 show the girls looked like they were straight out of the 'school of hard knocks' with black, punk rock eye makeup. As a black eyeliner junkie and fan of beauty icon's Bridget Bardot and Marianne Faithful I really fell in love with this makeup although it's not for everybody. This looks focus was meant to draw attention to the eye area and they definitely drew you in with a clearly defined sideways v that was drawn on thin towards the eye's inner crease and then blended out to a tip with more shading around the lash line. This look could be created very easily, all you need is a great neutral beige-pink eyeshadow such as Kevyn Aucoin's Single Eyeshadow in Blush and Noir Cosmetics Long Wear Eye Pencil which will allow you to create the definition. Grab your favorite set of lashes or Ellis Faas Mascara and your eyes are done! Keep the rest of the look minimal by sweeping a soft bronzer across the apples of your cheeks such as Jouer's Mineral Powder Bronzer and a seductive and neutral beige lip with Armour Beauty's Opaque Lip Gloss in Edie.
Voila! If all went well, accessorize with your fav motorcycle jacket and you should look like a girl straight out of the 60's-70's with a bit of a modern edge. If not....thank god for eyemakeup remover.
