For those who love lipstick but have a hard time wearing it because they have more of a half-moon shaped lip than cupid's bow, a lipliner might actually work in your favor. My lip line is somewhere in between and because of it, I have to be fairly selective on the lip shades I wear. Reds and bright fuschia's were really difficult for me to pull of until I started using a lip liner. Just like an eyeliner, they allow you to create soft and sensual or sharp and structured definition for those like me who are little bit lacking. I really like Jouer Cosmetics Lip Definer because of the wearable shade options and they draw on so smooth!Read More »
Women have been wearing perfume for years but do we really have it all figured out? Navigating through perfume sections online or in a department store can sometimes be overwhelming, not to mention trying to find your 'signature' scent.
In fact, perfume selection can be a very personal decision as scent is strongly linked to emotions and has a huge impact on the way people perceive you. What smells beautiful on a friend might smell totally different on your skin and this is where a little insight can really benefit us. After all, instructions for use don't come in the box so we gathered our most hard hitting questions and put them to the test with perfumer and scent expert YOSH...
Is it important to change or mix-up your perfumes with the changing of the seasons?
Yes, changing your perfumes with each season is like changing your fashion wardrobe. Each season represents a different sentiment or mood. Our body chemistry changes with the temperatures - partly because of the actual weather but also because of the seasonal foods you eat. And if you're newly in love - that will certainly change your body chemistry!
As we're entering spring, the season of changing leaves and re-introduction of color, what kind of scents should we be wearing?
As we come out of hibernation, the spring is full of hope and promise. It's still fresh some days and getting warmer other days. Just as you would wear a light sweater over your blouse or dress, wearing something sheer is great for this time of year. Something light but with some depth. Floral musk for this time of year is especially nice if you're on the East Coast and still need to wear a coat. Crisp florals are like crisp air in your nose - it wakes you up but it also gets the sluggish energy out. Sometimes, it's hard to motivate, we want the winter to last and we want to stay in bed. That's ok too - letting the body naturally come out of hibernation. But for days that need motivation, a little greenness will motivate you. Like wearing a pop of color.
What fragrance suggestions from our category would you find befitting of a great scent to compliment the Spring season?
Sottile in my own collection is made for spring with Tea Rose and Lily of the Valley. Sottile means subtle in Italian. It's clear and pretty like a spring day. There's a natural beauty to it - like a day after it rains. The air smells fresh with hints of hopeful silence. White Flowers is also great for this time of year. It's a more complex fragrance for the woman who likes tailored clothing. It has more layers and more bling. It's white flowers with a green finish and has a freshness to it like freshly picked wildflowers or the smell of flowers just coming out of the earth. Some other gorgeous spring options are:Read More »
We have been ridiculously spoiled over the years with Kai's gorgeous bath and body products such as our favorite (and Oprah's), Body Buffer and the Eau de Parfum. Gorgeous packaging as well as a vacation/beach inspired signature scent of tuberose, jasmine and lily is what the thousands of Kai devotees around the world fall in love with.
To make sure no shell is left unturned, nor no body part left without experiencing this kind of elegance, their most recent product addition will help us smell amazing in a place we seldom don't afford such luxury…our armpits. The aluminum free Kai Deodorant has a translucent formula combining vitamin e, chamomile and skin conditioning sugars to control moisture and keep us feeling dry all day long. It was just featured in the June 2012 edition of Elle magazine's 'Beauty It List' to cure dry underarms!

One of the leaders in haircare, Frederic Fekkai is also leading the way in producing hair products that work to protect our hair from an environmental stressor we tend to forget about, the sun. We know that the sun's harmful rays can be damaging to our skin and anti-aging but it can be just as bad on our hair. It's very dehydrating so we need something to protect and re-build what has been damaged like Fekkai's After Sun Daily Mask, a UV protectant that keeps hair from fading and also deeply conditioning.
Another great hair product for summer is Frederic Fekkai's Cooling Shine Mist, also a UV protectant, this aerosol spray coats the hair with an even veil of gorgeous shine and leaves it feeling summer time fresh!Read More »

MOR perfumes are like a nod to the past with a bit of a modern twist. Each fragrance aims to captivate and awaken the senses; to take us an a sensorial journey inspired by-gone eras, art, and cuisine. Such is the case with MOR's new additions, Little Luxuries Snow Gardenia and Belladonna. These perfume oils feel light and airy on the skin and soft to the touch with Belladonna smelling of meyer lemon and pink tulips and Snow Gardenia of yang yang and vanilla. I'm sure many of us have heard our mother's stories that begin like, "When I was young we would lay out all day and lather ourselves in oil….we didn't ever use sunscreen." For many, this was the norm because melanomas and the dangers of unprotected sun exposure weren't as known to the public as they are now. Although we are more educated, people are still spending a lot of time in the sun and possibly doing irreparable damage that we don't know about until it's to late.
In no way am I an advocate for 'no sun baking at all." I happen to love the sun, beach vacations and the way my skin looks with a bit of bronze color. However, we know a lot more about the dangers of the sun than my mother and her peers did at the time and we need to take that extra 5-10 minutes every hour or so to make sure we are properly protected. This is also where a great sunscreen comes into play. As seen in Town & Country, this year the FDA's new sunscreen regulations are coming into effect, with a maximum of SPF 50 being available and eliminating those confusing terms such as sunblock, sweat proof and water proof. The aim is to make sun protection less confusing and more appleaing.
Case in point, lifestyle brand Soleil Organique, that manages to capture the glamour of beach vacations in their stylish tan and gold packaging, yet very sensible and strict when it comes to having the safest possible ingredients. This luxury SPF range has been seen by the glamorous island hoppers of Turks & Caicos, Barbados and Nevis islands. As seen in June's Town & Country, Soleil Organique's Mineral Sunscreen Mist for Body SPF 45 boasts no synthetic fragrances, paragons, nor sulfates. Just the goods: Titanium and zinc oxide mineral screens and and anti-aging booster of antioxidant rich red algae. Shop this and the entire Soleil Organique sunscreen range here.

Emily VanCamp cannot stop spreading the news when it comes to her unabashad love for Leila Lou Perfume! She says, "Rosie Johnston does most of my makeup for events and this scent is so summery, a really lovely floral."
She talks about it and her other favorite things in the June 2012 edition of Lucky magazine. Not only is she their cover girl but she also has a simple and classic approach when it comes to splurging. Her most expensive item? A Chanel handbag of course! Team that up with Leila Lou by Rosie Jane Eau de Parfum and you have a lady with exquisite taste, and of course, a taste for 'revenge."…….not really she's just on a hit TV show called that!
The one style we constantly try to emulate but is difficult without a little seawater and sea breeze also happens to be one of Jennifer Aniston's signatures, beach hair. With the right styling products and tools, this vacation inspired hair trend isn't so complicated. One of Hollywood's leading hairstylists, Serge Normant, has broken the process down into five easy steps to achieve celebrity worthy beachiness…
Step 1. Pre air dry your hair in order to keep as much of your natural wave as possible.
Step 2. Apply Serge Normant's Spray Meta Lush Volumizer from root to tips to give flexibility and elasticity for the stye you're about to create.
Step 3. Create a middle part and smooth out the top layer to reduce unnecessary frizz.
Step 4. Use a little Serge Normant Meta Form Sculpting Pomade to give hair some texture before using a one inch curling iron or smaller to create your curls. Beachy curls aren't perfect so in order to have an 'undone' curl, I always recommend to leave the ends straight to give a more natural touch. In other words, don't wrap the entire strand around the barrel, but leave a 1-2 inch 'tail' hanging.
5. Flip your head over and scrunch up with your hands to loosen a little bit more. Then finally top it off with a little Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray.
If you don't have a St Barth's or Miami trip planned anytime soon there's no need to worry, brush on your favorite bronzer and coral lipstick and rock your beach hair like a jetsetter!Read More »
