Shop b-glowing’s Cult Classic Picks.

At b-glowing.com, we pride ourselves on introducing beauty devotees to new, innovative brands. But how do you know which products to try within a new brand you've only just discovered? In our Cult Classic Beauty Picks boutiques (say that five times fast), we've taken the guesswork out of trying new lines by hand-selecting our favorite products in SkincareMakeupFragranceHair CareBath + Body, and Men's.

One of the newest brands to b-glowing is 100% Pure. As you may have guessed, all of the brand’s products are made using only all-natural, organic, and vegan ingredients, and everything is toxin-free.

What especially makes this brand unique is how it’s created and how it’s colored. The makeup is all fruit-dyed, bath + body and hair products come in scents reminiscent of the farmers market, and the skincare line uses super foods for a luminous glow.

Some of our favorites include the Argan Oil Hydration SPF 30, which protects against skin cancer, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark sun/age spots by using 100% natural, 100% vegan, and gluten-free ingredients. As spring begins to shine, this product will be an absolute necessity for healthy skin!

New from L'Artisan Parfumeur

L'Artisan Parfumeur just released new luxurious, unisex perfumes that encapsulate French charm, beauty and romanticism. Amour Nocturne, Déliria, and Skin on Skin are the latest, unique creations from Bertrand Duchaufour that are both sensual and sexy.

Bertrand has worked with L'Artisan Parfumeur for more than 10 years, creating beautiful scents that play on natural compositions and connect some of nature’s most incredible fragrances. Working on two basic fundamentals, Bertrand finds balance in opposites (when opposites attract). Secondly, everything is transformed, not lost or created. By distorting and dissecting nature, he’s been able to compose more than a dozen scents for L'Artisan Parfumeur.

Every one is the business nose Bertrand for his attention to detail, which is now easily recognized in his three latest creations. Déliria’s exquisiteness is found in its contrast between metallic, rhum and gourmand notes of toffee apple and candy floss. It’s perfect for a sense of intrigue and excitement. Amour Nocturne has notes of cedar, surrounded by soothing notes of hot milk and caramel that give way to a powerful burst of gun powder and orchid. Warm and mysterious, it wears like a second skin. Skin on Skin merges a sensual iris with a suede, velvet leather. Saffron, whisky, lavender and rose also intertwine for a musk effect.

These unisex scents are available now, and for a limited time, you can try two free at checkout!

Take Your Hair to New Lengths

Posted on 03/19/2014

A guide to longer and healthier hair

You know your hair is growing, but does it seem like it isn’t getting any longer? You may be right, and the answer could lay in your hair care routine. Excessive heat styling, friction styling, and your nutrition can all be factors in causing brittle, damaged hair that is prone to breakage. Here are some pro-tips to maintain your length.

Your Hair’s Integrity
It’s important to know how much your hair can handle and how you can give back to your locks. If you have chemically treated hair, especially if it has been lightened with bleach, its integrity is already compromised. If you are also doing a lot of heat styling (i.e. round brush blowouts, flat irons, curling irons) you need to be careful about how often you are doing this. Firstly, use a heat protectant whenever heat is applied to the hair. Try to limit blowouts and heat styling to no more than twice a week (ideally only once a week). You should also be doing a weekly hair mask to strengthen and maintain protein levels.

Friction/Styling
A lot of breakage can occur during regular styling (like pony tails or buns and braids) because the hair is being pulled and manipulated by elastic bands and hair pins. Try switching your style, and don’t wear your pony tail or buns in the same place all the time. This will avoid stressing the same hairs over and over, which can lead to, you guessed it, breakage.

Plus, tossing and turning in your sleep against cotton pillowcases can cause your hair to get stuck and snap off, so we also recommend a silk pillowcase.

Washing
Too many washes can dry your hair, making it brittle and frizzy, which typically drives people to more heat styling. Everyone’s hair is different, but we suggest no more than three washes in a 7-day period (two is ideal for most hair types). We know it can be tough, but with a good dry shampoo by your side, you can keep your hair looking refreshed rather than oily.

Nutrition
Your diet affects your overall health, including the health of your hair and nails. Once you have a routine to keep your ends happy, it’s smart to maintain healthy hair growth. Vitamin- and iron-rich foods, such as blueberries, spinach, and salmon can aide in the regulation of your hair cycles. Adding a supplement with biotin can also give hair growth a boost.

Deborah Lippman St. Patricks Ombre Mani

Posted on 03/15/2014

Shop b-glowing.

If you like the idea of participating in this green holiday, but your “kiss me, I’m Irish” shirt has seen better days, we have a more subtle and fashion-forward answer for you: a St. Patties manicure, of course! We wanted to give you something that was festive without being too kitschy, so we decided to go with a fun but sleek glitter ombre nail. Wear this mani to your four-leaf themed events tonight!

  • By now, you know that every manicure must start with clean, buffed and filed nails. If your cuticles need a little love, we suggest using the Cuticle Remover from Deborah Lippmann. Once your nails have been cleaned and shaped, apply a thin, even base coat. With all the manicures we’ve been doing here at b-glowing HQ we opted for the Rehydrating Base Coat to give some moisture back to our dry nails.
  • The first color you will want use is Deborah Lippmann’s Spring Buds from her new spring line. Its nice pale chartreuse will give some depth to the manicure and complete the color gradient you want to achieve. You only need one even coat of this color, as you don’t want too much polish build up.
  • Next, start with your darker glitter polish; we used Deborah Lippmann’s Across the Universe because it is almost a teal with a blue base and green glitter. You want to start at the tip of your nail and drag the brush down with an uneven line so you are able to blend the two glitter polishes. Try to keep a majority of the darker glitter toward the tip and only pull the base color down. You can see in our picture how we applied this color. Let this dry for a few minutes
  • Once your first glitter color has dried a little, take your lighter and preferably greener glitter color to finish the ombre effect. We used Deborah Lippmann’s Shake Your Money Maker because it has a green base with green and gold glitter. Start from the bottom of the nail with a light hand and brush up over the first color. You want to make sure to build the glitter as you go up towards the tip of the nail to leave the area near your cuticle lighter in color. We suggest two coats of your second glitter color. Once this has dried (give extra time since there’s a lot of glitter!), finish with a glossy topcoat and cuticle oil.
