There's nothing like a little blogger love on a Thursday morning, especially when said blogger talks about some of your favorite beauty items. Seems like Beauty By Benz and I have similar beauty taste with picks from Rodin olio lusso, Jouer Cosmetics and more! Not only does she talk about her love of b-glowing for our eclectic mix of department store favorites, niche products that professional makeup artists go ga-ga for and brands that have built a cult status following over the years but also that our site is just plain cool! Here are the products that made her summer favorites list:
Rodin olio lusso Luxury Face Oil is a makeup artist must have to prep and hydrate the skin to make that perfect canvas for makeup application. Victoria's Secret angels get their amazing runway face glow from Rodin not from the heavens. She talks about how it really absorbs onto the skin rather than resting on top and feeling like an oil spill and the beautiful Jasmine scent makes it ever more luxurious.
Top off that glow with a bit more courtesy of Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint. It's light to medium coverage goes on without feeling heavy and it's dewy formula leaves skin looking fresh and illuminated all day. Add on a bit of pink creamy blush, mascara and gloss and you've created the perfect no fuss summer look.
If you haven't been working on your 'power brow' the time is now. Brows are bigger than ever, both in size and trend so start growing out and enhancing your beautiful arches. She fell in love with the Jouer Brow Fix, a clear taming gel with brush applicator that can be used after filling in your brows with powder or pencil to keep them in place all day long.
Jemma Kidd Contour & Flush Creme Blush Duo is really the perfect summer makeup product because it comes with two different shades. A darker bronze to be used for contouring or bronzing and then a cream blush that gives that perfect soft dewy hint of color. Creamy blushes are really ideal for summer because they don't look streaky or uneven as a powder blush can occasionally appear if a liquid base is beneath it. Sometimes the color sticks to different areas which can be a little frustrating when you're in a hurry but not the case with creamy based ones!

An amazing pink and orange sunset is setting the perfect romantic backdrop, you're wearing your favorite floral sundress, your hair is styled in the perfect undone beach wave. He leans in for the kiss and then you remember……my dry, flaky lips are not in any condition for romance! If only we could pause the situation like a movie scene, but unfortunately if you haven't remembered to exfoliate your lips, chances are this is going to be one rough smackeroo session.
Because the lips are a thinner and more sensitive area than the rest of your face, it's imperative that you use a separate exfoliant for that area, not the abrasive microderm product you might use on the rest of your face. There's is no better product than Sara Happ's Limited Edition Blood Orange Lip Scrub. This gentle yet effective sugar scrub will lightly exfoliate your lips with delish smelling granular sugar crystals. Simply apply onto lips and rub in circular motions for a minute and then rinse off. The lips are left soft and smooth and ready for some kissing!

Summertime is usually when your social schedule doubles with barbecues, housewarmings, picnics and more taking up all your free time. When you're in a rush from work things like touching up your tan or applying lipstick can be a problem when you're in a rush and these are certainly things we shouldn't be trying to attempt when driving, although I've seen a lot worse. The one area I want to look amazing in my scalloped shorty shorts is of course my legs. They really look longer and leaner with a bit of color which is why I turn to St Tropez Self Tan Perfect Legs Spray. This aerosol spray is easy to pop in your purse for a last minute tanning sesh and in a few sprays gives your legs instant color and an airbrushed, natural looking glow. Think if it as makeup for your legs, it washes off when you want it to and is perfect for all skin tones!

There's no time like summer to break out those bright popsicle and sherbet shades. Neon knows no boundaries so feel free to apply on nails, eyelids and lips! However, a little word to the wise, just like jewelry it's a good idea to choose one area to focus your beauty statement rather than choosing all three. A turquoise eye, hot pink cheek and bright orange lip might be a little overkill, unless you're walking on a runway. Here are a few fun high voltage shades to adorn yourself with this summer season…
Make an eye-popping statement with By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Fizzy Jade Or Paradise Island. These crayon inspired eye shadows can literally be drawn on for precise contouring as well as easily blended out to create more of a smoky look. Both of these shades remind me of the sea with Fizzy Jade being a gorgeous soft green and Paradise Island a turquoise blue. They're made with pearl proteins, present in the form of micronized powder which allows for a creamy, melt away eyeshadow that creates a lifting light effect and has infallible hold.
Lips are meant to be noticed. Forego your neutral soft pink gloss and go high octave with staff favorite Ilia Lipstick in Neon Angel. We can't get enough of fuchsia this season and when it's this easy to apply and consists of organic ingredients that tint and condition our skin it's a beauty junkie no brainer.
First looks at the outer packaging of Armour Beauty Lucy Opaque Lip Gloss initially frightened me. It. Is. So. Orange. However, I pushed past the initial fear and am so glad I did. Let's just say everybody at the office was asking me what gloss I was wearing. It doesn't go as bold as what you'd think but still gives a highly pigmented coral orange shade in it's wake. Totally in love with this Lucille Ball inspired gloss!
Actress and singer Miley Cyrus is a big fan of RGB nail lacquers. She has been seen about hollywood land rocking many different shades but her favorite seems to be RGB's Minty. A very pretty mint green, robin's egg inspired shade that is oh so cute for summer!

For cheekbones, apply one of the gorgeous shades in EF | STUDIO's Cheek Color Palette in C101 for a beautiful healthy flush. With summer comes a re-introduction of light and fruity florals or marine sea inspired perfumes so try and find notes of rose, lily, jasmine, etc. One of my absolute favorites as well as the Martha Stewart wedding's team is Romantina by Juliette Has A Gun. Perfumer Yosh joins us again for another round of Scents & Sensibility! Spring has passed and now summer is truly in bloom. The earthy aromas of the season are in full swing like jasmine that seems it's most intoxicating at sunset, freshly mowed green grass, sweet honeysuckle and a day at the beach (cotton candy, coconut cocktails, sunscreen) and all! Yosh answers a few of our seasonal questions and recommends some great summer scents for our 2012 Summer Fragrance Flight, a sampler set of 5 fragrances for $15 that will leave you smelling great as the temperature rises. It also includes a special 20% discount code** that can be used just in case you find your new signature!
Our body chemistry (as well as the Earth's) changes during the summer. It's warmer out so we change our activities accordingly. When it's hot and humid, light and fresh fragrances tend to be more suitable for the season. Fruity florals or citrus aromatics are refreshing and carefree.
How do we choose the perfect summer fragrance?
This depends on your activity but for the office, something watery and subtle would be appropriate but weekends and going out at night, something sparkly and juicy would be more fun.
I've heard that eau de toilette can be a better choice than an eau de parfum because they're lighter based. However, the lighter they are I find the more times I have to apply. What's the solution?
There's a misconception that fragrances should last all day but I prefer to carry a purse spray to spritz throughout the day. It's like asking the sunlight to stay the same from morning through the day. Nobody is that robotic. Clothing gets wrinkled and worn as you sit and walk around. Refresh your fragrance when you powder your nose and add fresh coat of lipstick.
Eau de toilette EDT and eau de parfum EDP refer to the strength of perfume concentrate and alcohol. There's more alcohol and less concentrate in EDT so the dilution gives the wearer a lighter impression. I think this is a great solution if a person tends towards the heavier florientals or gourmands normally. Then you can still enjoy this genre of fragrance in the summer rather than trying to wear a different style of perfume. But if you like cologne style aromatics or citrus fragrances, then EDP is fine even in the summer. If you like floral musks or powdery fragrances, then choose the less intense EDT otherwise, it can be cloying in humid weather. If it's a dry climate with coastal breeze (west coast) then EDP is fine.
What are some of our summer inspired fragrances that have caught your eye this season?
In my own collection, I was surprised to find that I fell in love with U4EAHH. Even though it's a global best seller, it was one of my creations that I never wore because it is usually turns sour on me. But I've been in Tokyo for the last few weeks and the climate here is quite humid and the fragrance smells amazing on me. The new Rodin olio lusso Perfume also sounds amazing to me with neroli and jasmine.

Coloring your hair outside of a well trained, professional hand could be very dangerous. Case in point, at 15 years of age I bought a box of hair color off the super market shelf thinking the models hair color was what mine would look like. Oh boy was I wrong. Instead of golden blonde it turned out a rusty orange. In fact I looked like a leopard. From that day nobody without a diploma has ever laid a drop of color on my head.
Times change though, and over the years many brands have come out with great touch up kits or products to help keep your color vibrant and free from fade until your next appointment. One of the trusted stand-outs to fight regrowth is the Oscar Blandi Colore Pen as seen in In Touch magazine. This industry and celebrity approved touch up and highlighting pen is brushed on to temporarily disguise roots, grays and also enhances highlights with a natural looking finish. You can keep it in your purse and touch up when you catch yourself in some bad lighting. Simply choose the right color for you and get your instant color fix!
