Our jobs here at b-glowing may seem all fun and make-up but some topics require serious exploration. The subject of kissing and lip glosses came up over lunch the other day and we decided we needed to compile a list in the name of research.
We came to the conclusion that there are some lip glosses that our men hate, some that when they see you applying it- they go in for a kiss just because it is that tasty, and some that we love because it keeps the color and/or shine even after the steamiest make-out session.
Here are our top gloss picks for locking lips:Read More »
It was all glamour and sophistication at last night’s 2012 Golden Globe awards. I watched the stars traipse down the red carpet looking for the most part stunning (didn’t care for Mila Kunis or Lea Michelle’s look, but whatever.) What continually caught my eye was the general trend for simple make-up and muted or nude lips. Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Kate Beckinsale, Stacy Kiebler – they all kept their lips very neutral so that their eyes and fabulous dresses were the main focus. These soft lip looks made Hollywood’s hottest women look beautiful, feminine and completely enviable.
Recreating lips like these is easy with the right lip stick and gloss.
The Hydrating Lipstick in Veronika by Jouer Cosmetics is the perfect neutral lip color. Its soft color has a slight shimmer to give your lips that star-like quality without being over the top. This smooth lipstick is made of moisturizing Brazilian Cupuacu Butter so it also protects your lips and provides beautifully smooth coverage.
Layer the Veronika with Armour Beauty’s Gypsy Shimmer Lip Gloss. This sheer light peach gloss has a touch of gold shimmer to add shine and a little drama. The color and shine is ultra-feminine and long-lasting, perfect for a glamorous night out.
Your wedding will be one of the most memorable moments in your life. From the dress to the decorations everything should be perfect and that includes your makeup. For my wedding five years ago I was so picky about not wanting to look like I had a pancake face that I ended up spending a butt load of money and doing it myself to make sure I looked like a more glamorous version of myself. If you don't plan on having a makeup artist then take a look at my picks below to create a beautiful makeup look for your wedding.
Firstly, the foundation is always one of the most important products as you want a formulation that is light and breathable. I always want my skin to be seen but perfected, not literally camoflaged and suffocating. The perfect foundation for this would be Jemma Kidd's Light As Air Foundation. This ultra-light product will provide a natural foundation for your skin along with a velvet feel and soft focus finish. Your skin will be left matte, without any shine for photos! This was also just featured in GOOP by Gwyneth Paltrow's makeup artist.
I don't always like to use a powder but for photos I think it's important to have just in case the nerves cause you to sweat and have more shine than usual. Paul & Joe's Kitty Matte Pressed Powder goes on effortlessly and feels weightless. Comes with a slightly darker shade for creating contour and a transluscent clear shade for a flawless shine free complexion. This line is also part of the Spring 2012 Meow Collection that is flying off the shelves!Read More »
Two of our products were just featured in Martha Stewart Weddings Online as part of a series of wedding makeup color combinations. They say you'll never look as beautiful than on your wedding day and we have to give part of that credit over to some amazing makeup brands. Armour Beauty's Opaque Lip Gloss in Ann Margaret was chosen for the finishing touch in Copper Eyes, Dewy Cheeks and Apricot Lips! BECCA Cosmetics Beach Tint in Fig was featured in the Plum Eyes, Rasberry Stained Cheeks and Glossy Lips to create a delicate and romantic flush. This multi-use product will quickly become your best friend when you're in a hurry as it looks great on cheeks, eyes and lips!

As the days roll on during the countdown of Fashion Week as always each brand has created a key look that represents what the brand is trying to exude for that season. BCBG was all about the low maintenance girl. Throw your hair in a low pony, whip on some gloss and you're out the door yet still dressed fabulously. From totally minimalist down to a rocker edge there seems to have been a bit of bi-polar-esque looks across the runways...
At the Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 show the girls looked like they were straight out of the 'school of hard knocks' with black, punk rock eye makeup. As a black eyeliner junkie and fan of beauty icon's Bridget Bardot and Marianne Faithful I really fell in love with this makeup although it's not for everybody. This looks focus was meant to draw attention to the eye area and they definitely drew you in with a clearly defined sideways v that was drawn on thin towards the eye's inner crease and then blended out to a tip with more shading around the lash line. This look could be created very easily, all you need is a great neutral beige-pink eyeshadow such as Kevyn Aucoin's Single Eyeshadow in Blush and Noir Cosmetics Long Wear Eye Pencil which will allow you to create the definition. Grab your favorite set of lashes or Ellis Faas Mascara and your eyes are done! Keep the rest of the look minimal by sweeping a soft bronzer across the apples of your cheeks such as Jouer's Mineral Powder Bronzer and a seductive and neutral beige lip with Armour Beauty's Opaque Lip Gloss in Edie.
Voila! If all went well, accessorize with your fav motorcycle jacket and you should look like a girl straight out of the 60's-70's with a bit of a modern edge. If not....thank god for eyemakeup remover.

Get in the spirit of spring with this season’s hottest lip colors: coral, orange and pink. These exotic, friendly shades are flattering for all skin tones, so every fashionista can enjoy the candy-colored hues. Use sheerer versions in a lip gloss during the day (like an Armour Beauty lip gloss,) and amp it up at night with an electrically charged hue from the Kevyn Aucoin cosmetics line.
Coral is the queen of lip colors this spring. Its bright hue matches any skin tone, can make your skin appear more golden and is perfect for virtually any of spring outfit. To make your lips look fuller, opt for a glossy coral lipstick or use the Ann-Margaret Opaque Lip Gloss by Armour Beauty.
Ready for something bold? Glossy or matte, orange lips freshen up tired winter trends. This color isn’t as forgiving as coral, so you need to make sure the shade of orange you use matches your skin tone, just as you would with a red lip color. If you’re not sure where to start, check out Armour Beauty’s Lucy Opaque Lip Gloss.Read More »
Today would have marked Marilyn Monroe's 85th Birthday as well as the 50th anniversary of her death. Her memory is more alive than ever as beauty brands are naming products after her as well as being the face of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Although she was gone way to soon it's amazing how her style and classic beauty still captivates the modern woman. From the red lip to the dark eyeliner, Marilyn is gone but her mark has been made for centuries to come. See below a few products that were inspired by this late, great Hollywood film siren….
Erno Laszlo's Morning Beauty Rescue is actually a custom made face cream created for Marilyn Monroe by her dermatologist, Dr Erno Laszlo. After all, being under unforgiving lights all day would be quite scary unless you were using great skincare to make you look youthful and rejuvenated. Movies haven't changed, and actresses are still under these harsh lights but this time being filmed with HD (high definition) lenses. Look to the past and you will see the future and that's why years later the Erno Laszlo brand has reformulated the product for the skin concerns of the modern woman. Morning Beauty Rescue is a brightening light-as-air whipped gel primer that actively brightens and rejuvenates the complexion and can even be used as a makeup primer. Shop the full Erno Laszlo Hollywood Collection here!
Marilyn was known for her beautiful full lips so Armour Beauty dedicated a product just for her, the Marilyn Shimmer Lip Gloss! Picture the idea of 'diamonds are a girl's best friend' but in lipgloss form and you'll start to understand how gorgeous this shade is. This gloss glides on to create a high style sheer gloss with a holographic silver sparkle explosion.

There's no time like summer to break out those bright popsicle and sherbet shades. Neon knows no boundaries so feel free to apply on nails, eyelids and lips! However, a little word to the wise, just like jewelry it's a good idea to choose one area to focus your beauty statement rather than choosing all three. A turquoise eye, hot pink cheek and bright orange lip might be a little overkill, unless you're walking on a runway. Here are a few fun high voltage shades to adorn yourself with this summer season…
Make an eye-popping statement with By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Fizzy Jade Or Paradise Island. These crayon inspired eye shadows can literally be drawn on for precise contouring as well as easily blended out to create more of a smoky look. Both of these shades remind me of the sea with Fizzy Jade being a gorgeous soft green and Paradise Island a turquoise blue. They're made with pearl proteins, present in the form of micronized powder which allows for a creamy, melt away eyeshadow that creates a lifting light effect and has infallible hold.
Lips are meant to be noticed. Forego your neutral soft pink gloss and go high octave with staff favorite Ilia Lipstick in Neon Angel. We can't get enough of fuchsia this season and when it's this easy to apply and consists of organic ingredients that tint and condition our skin it's a beauty junkie no brainer.
First looks at the outer packaging of Armour Beauty Lucy Opaque Lip Gloss initially frightened me. It. Is. So. Orange. However, I pushed past the initial fear and am so glad I did. Let's just say everybody at the office was asking me what gloss I was wearing. It doesn't go as bold as what you'd think but still gives a highly pigmented coral orange shade in it's wake. Totally in love with this Lucille Ball inspired gloss!
Actress and singer Miley Cyrus is a big fan of RGB nail lacquers. She has been seen about hollywood land rocking many different shades but her favorite seems to be RGB's Minty. A very pretty mint green, robin's egg inspired shade that is oh so cute for summer!
