EF | STUDIO Must Have Products

Posted on 07/26/2011

New York….concrete jungles where dreams are made true, lights will inspire you…..

I don't know about lights inspiring me, but makeup certainly does and especially when I hear about brands that are breaking the mold in cosmetics like EF | STUDIO, Eddie Funkhouser and Kaden's new range out of New York City!

This powerful and creative duo are bringing function back to the way we choose our makeup. They want to help eliminate the clutter of numerous makeup products that aren't doing a darn thing for us except taking up valuable space. Makeup should be fun, not stressful, and that comes down to having studio grade formulations that actually do what they say as well as having makeup options that takes the guessing game out the picture.

How To Make Your Skin Glow

Posted on 11/21/2011

I'm crazy for beauty products that illuminate the skin and make you appear like you're exuding radiance from the inside out. It's hard to find the right products that don't  make your face look like a disco ball and that have very subtle shimmer. As we get older, sparkly products have a tendency to make us look older so it's important to choose the right products that are finely milled and very subtle. Creamy based products can also slide into our fine lines and get trapped there, which only draws more attention to them. As a 31 year old who's still obsessed with glitter and shimmer, these are the ones I've found that will make you look youthful and radiant.

Do It Yourself Bridal Makeup

Posted on 01/26/2012

Your wedding will be one of the most memorable moments in your life. From the dress to the decorations everything should be perfect and that includes your makeup. For my wedding five years ago I was so picky about not wanting to look like I had a pancake face that I ended up spending a butt load of money and doing it myself to make sure I looked like a more glamorous version of myself. If you don't plan on having a makeup artist then take a look at my picks below to create a beautiful makeup look for your wedding.

Firstly, the foundation is always one of the most important products as you want a formulation that is light and breathable. I always want my skin to be seen but perfected, not literally camoflaged and suffocating. The perfect foundation for this would be Jemma Kidd's Light As Air Foundation. This ultra-light product will provide a natural foundation for your skin along with a velvet feel and soft focus finish. Your skin will be left matte, without any shine for photos! This was also just featured in GOOP by Gwyneth Paltrow's makeup artist.

I don't always like to use a powder but for photos I think it's important to have just in case the nerves cause you to sweat and have more shine than usual. Paul & Joe's Kitty Matte Pressed Powder goes on effortlessly and feels weightless. Comes with a slightly darker shade for creating contour and a transluscent clear shade for a flawless shine free complexion. This line is also part of the Spring 2012 Meow Collection that is flying off the shelves!

Amazing Creme & Wet Eyeliners!

Posted on 06/28/2012

I much prefer liquid or creamy based eyeliners than powder. For one, I've had a bad run with powder eyeshadows when I try to be wet my brush and attempt to turn them into a wetter consistency for lining. Although some powder shadows are meant to be able to do this, I still find that after I draw my line, tiny powder particles seem to land on my upper cheeks throughout the day. As I'm constantly touching my face, there have been some  smudging 'accidents that make me look I'm going out for the football team. Luckily for me, we just got in some amazing new eyeliners in store!

Kevyn Aucoin's Precision Liquid Liner comes with a felt tip applicator for easy lining or more daredevil accuracy for a dramatic cat eye. It's also waterproof so will hold onto your eyelids for dear life, come rain, sleet, sweat or snow. As it's a quick drying formulation, there's no need for you to not blink for two minutes nor fan your eyes (come on ladies we've all been there).

There's no point investing in a creme liner without knowing you're going to be applying it with an amazing brush. EF | STUDIO's Creme Eye Liner & Precision Point Liner Brush has everything you need for $40. The double ended liner brush is one of the finest engineered brushes on the market making it effortless to apply creamy or water based eye products. The Creme Eye Liner in Kuro has the most luxurious feel and will work for all skin types. It can be used to create sleek, sexy lines or it doubles as a great shadow to create the iconic smoky eye. No smudging, flaking or streaking!

I'm very excited to enhance my eye area with the EF | STUDIO Eye Gloss Transparent which I'm hoping is a much less stickier and tackier version than Mac's Eye Glass. I love the dewy, sensual finish it leaves on your eyes, but not the feeling that your eyelids are stuck. With EF | STUDIO's, it contains moisturizing properties to preserve the natural suppleness of the eye area so it leaves a beautiful wet look to lids without the stick!

Festival season is here so it's time to bring out your kaftans, american flag inspired shirt dress, motorcycle boots and indian headdresses! So, that's a few helpful hints for fashion but we need to be coordinating this amazing head to toe look with an easy breezy makeup look that screams natural beauty. The last thing you want to be wearing to an all day, let alone all weekend music festival is a face full of foundation and weighted down mascara that will sweat, run and leave you not looking so hot in time for your favorite band ever. Leave the experts to this as we share some of our favorite picks to leave you looking simply gorgeous for a weekend of fun in the sun.

The secret to summer music festival beauty is in large part due to an amazing tinted moisturizer and natural looking bronzer. This is by far the most important base and after you have found this, the rest is easy. One of my personal favorites due to it's radiant nature is Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector. Whatever color you choose will give a natural finish and lightweight feel that makes your skin look like it's glowing. It also contains SPF 20 so you're protected while you're under the hot sun listening to your favorite bands. Enhance your luminous skin with a hint of bronzer courtesy of Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Bronzing Veil, a unique bronzer that matches every skin tone and gives skin a natural glow from the inside out. Lightly brush a bit on cheekbones and forehead for a perfectly sun kissed placement.

Next, take a sun kissed peachy coral shade like By Terry Blush Terrybly Ultimate Radiance Blush in Beach Bomb and sweep underneath where you lay the bronzer and lightly over the apples of the cheeks to warm up your face and compliment your golden tan.

For bit of dewiness apply EF | STUDIO's Eye Gloss Transparent to the lower lids. It leaves a sensual finish to the eyes and instantly warms up a dull skin tone. This is my new secret and love the way it makes my eyes look! It's so simple but looks amazing!

Finish the look off with Jouer Cosmetics Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Sunset. Just a hint of color is needed to draw attention to your puckeroos.

Whether you decide to go with these or your own variations try to keep it soft and subtle. Festivals are about a relaxed vibe so try to mimic that feeling in your fashion and beauty looks!

Accessor-Eyes With EF | STUDIO Eye Gloss Transparent!

Posted on 09/19/2012

Shop the full EF | STUDIO collection here!

It seems I'm not alone in my obsession with eye gloss. Although it's so simple in theory, I feel the power of eye gloss is highly underrated so was so thrilled to see my go to favorite - EF | STUDIO's Eye Gloss Transparent featured in an assortment of publications as of late. So simple yet can do wonders for your eye area when you're short on time or wanting to play up a dramatic eye look. A glossy eye can open a tired eye as well as camouflage redness and make you appear youthful and radiant.

I've been using my EF | STUDIO Eye Gloss on a bare lid with loads of mascara and then a flirty peach toned blush and light gloss on lips. Or take note from Marc Jacobs and Narcisco Rodriguez Spring 2013 shows and enhance eyeshadow with a light layering of gloss over the top to add shine. Mix your favorite shadow with the EF | STUDIO Eye Gloss or on it's own for a beautiful natural eye enhancement.
