Straight, smooth hair is one of the most popular hair styles among celebrities and laywomen alike. Yet it’s not always easy to transform frizzy, curly locks into arrow-straight tresses. Below, we’ve gathered techniques for achieving the perfectly straight, healthy hair you desire.
Long before Oscar Blandi and Frederic Fekkai started selling their fabulous straightening products, many women yearned for smooth, straight hair. Today, you can still use natural techniques to achieve straight hair.
Nourishing milk straightening treatment. Milk helps straighten hair and combat frizz. Begin with a shampoo; leave hair slightly damp. Comb 1/3 cup milk through damp tresses. Once the milk has coated every hair shaft, massage the scalp for a few minutes. Next, let the milk soak in for about twenty minutes. Finally, shampoo, condition and style as you wish. If your hair is color damaged, use a restorative conditioner such as Russian Amber Imperial Conditioning Crème by Philip B.
The milk bath method works best for those with a slight wave. However, women with curly hair can still benefit from milk treatments, since milk provides hydration and definition for curls. Or you could take the modern shortcut and use Frederic Fekkai’s Ironless Silky Straight shampoo and conditioner. This will achieve even better results with far less work.Read More »
If you’re going on a vacation this spring, be sure to pamper yourself before you leave. Winter conditions can ravage your skin and hair. Avoid feeling less fabulous than you actually are – prepare for your spring break by following these tips.
Your skin is probably already parched due to winter dryness. Combine this with the damaging effects of air travel, and you could end up looking positively reptilian just when you should be feeling absolutely gorgeous. It’s not unusual for humidity levels in pressurized airplane cabins to hover around 25 percent. Only desert dwellers are used to that kind of arid environment. Therefore, be sure to drink plenty of water during and before the flight to keep your skin looking plump and healthy.
Additionally, it’s smart to treat yourself to a pre-vacation skin spa. Exfoliating and deeply moisturizing your skin before you leave will help offset the desiccation of air travel and winter dryness. For a natural exfoliation experience, try mixing sweet almond oil with sugar or coffee grinds. Once the dead skin cells of winter have been sloughed away, apply a rich moisturizer.Read More »

Gorgeous actress and daughter of the famous Genesis lead singer Phil Collins, Lily Collins was recently featured in the September issue of Glamour magazine. Hand picked by the guest editor, the stylish Victoria Beckham, she was featured in a hair-how-to spread rocking the upcoming Fall 2012 hair trends. My personal fav was the throwback to Brigitte Bardot with a half bouffant/half pony. The secret to achieving this look is obviously a lot of volume and back combing along with a little help from Frederic Fekkai's Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel. Apply to damp hair with an emphasis on roots for extra lift and then throughout for added texture.
The other look Lily wore was smooth and accessorized. Any hair style can be dressed up and made cuter with a headband or barrette but to really smooth down frizzies for perfectly accessory placement you need Frederic Fekkai's Coiff Ironless Straightening Balm. You don't need a professional blow-out to keep flyways at bay, simply apply this non chemical balm throughout damp hair and then blow dry holding your brush very straight

A guide to longer and healthier hair
You know your hair is growing, but does it seem like it isn’t getting any longer? You may be right, and the answer could lay in your hair care routine. Excessive heat styling, friction styling, and your nutrition can all be factors in causing brittle, damaged hair that is prone to breakage. Here are some pro-tips to maintain your length.
Your Hair’s Integrity
It’s important to know how much your hair can handle and how you can give back to your locks. If you have chemically treated hair, especially if it has been lightened with bleach, its integrity is already compromised. If you are also doing a lot of heat styling (i.e. round brush blowouts, flat irons, curling irons) you need to be careful about how often you are doing this. Firstly, use a heat protectant whenever heat is applied to the hair. Try to limit blowouts and heat styling to no more than twice a week (ideally only once a week). You should also be doing a weekly hair mask to strengthen and maintain protein levels.
A lot of breakage can occur during regular styling (like pony tails or buns and braids) because the hair is being pulled and manipulated by elastic bands and hair pins. Try switching your style, and don’t wear your pony tail or buns in the same place all the time. This will avoid stressing the same hairs over and over, which can lead to, you guessed it, breakage.
Plus, tossing and turning in your sleep against cotton pillowcases can cause your hair to get stuck and snap off, so we also recommend a silk pillowcase.
Too many washes can dry your hair, making it brittle and frizzy, which typically drives people to more heat styling. Everyone’s hair is different, but we suggest no more than three washes in a 7-day period (two is ideal for most hair types). We know it can be tough, but with a good dry shampoo by your side, you can keep your hair looking refreshed rather than oily.
Your diet affects your overall health, including the health of your hair and nails. Once you have a routine to keep your ends happy, it’s smart to maintain healthy hair growth. Vitamin- and iron-rich foods, such as blueberries, spinach, and salmon can aide in the regulation of your hair cycles. Adding a supplement with biotin can also give hair growth a boost.
