Valentine's means chocolates, champagne, flowers, perfume and......red lips! If this is a particular color you've been secretly wanting to try but scared it's going be a disaster then there is no better time than now to harness your beauty junkie courage and start drawing outside the lines, of your lips that is. Jemma Kidd Makeup School makes it super easy by giving you a play by play in just a few steps and also suggests the products you can use to make sure your lips will be sure to get kissed this Valentines Day. From their Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme (my personal fav), Ultimate Lipstick Duo in Scarlett and Lip Perfector will guarantee a classic cupid's bow painted red for love. Just make sure you don't drink a coke before hand, remember you're going to need a steady hand which is one thing a product can't do for you!

Have you ever walked down the street and noticed a woman wearing a lipstick that just doesn't seem to work for her? Sometimes in those instances it can come down to the confidence or style of the woman wearing it or other times it can plain come down to skin tones. Yes, just like foundations the lipstick you choose should compliment the color of your skin. A good rule of thumb when shopping for the perfect lip shade according to Jemma Kidd is to "test on the tip of your fingers. The skin there is very similar in colour and texture to that of your lips, so will give you a good idea as to what the color be."
If you want to get into the 'nitty gritty' of lipstick shopping I'll break it down for you. If you keep these rules in mind even the brightest or scariest shades can suit you:
Porcelain to paler skin typically have a pink skin tone so will suit colors with a cool base. Scarlet reds, brownish pinks and soft apricots compliment this skin tone very well. Be fun and go with a classic red like Jemma Kidd's Ulimate Lipstick Duo in Scarlett.
Fair to olive skin tones more often that not have more of a yellow skin tone so will suit warmer based shades like nudes and pinks. The right shade can be tough to find these that don't have to much blue or orange in them like the Hi-Shine Hydrating Glosstick SPF 15 in Hibiscus.
But wait! As if to make things even more difficult, some people can have both pink and yellow skin tones which are then considered neutral and can wear both cool and warm based shades. Olive skin tones get to pull off my favorites and one of the season's biggest trends, orange. Try Kevyn Aucoin's Elegant Lip Gloss in Vizcaya.
For those dark exotic skin tones, deep warm shades of red, gold or espresso will look stunning. Stand out from the crowd with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Phoebe, a shimmering bronzed wine.
If you're still unsure what all this means, if you naturally gravitate to cool colors as these best suit you, you will have a pink tone. If the opposite is true and you favour wamer colors, you will have a warm, yellow tone. Class dismissed!Read More »

Next, apply Butter London's West End Wonderland, in a densely pigmented gold all over the lip area for an instant luxe look and pair it up on the nails with Butter London's Full Monty Nail Lacquer.

After you've applied your favorite illuminating base like Becca Cosmetics Luminous Skin Color it's time to draw attention to the eyes with the Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Duo in Soft Gold Lame and Smoky Brown. This is the perfect eyeshadow for day or night and because we want the lip to be the focal point we want to keep the eye area soft and shimmery. Sculpt cheekbones and give a subtle hint of color with By Terry's Or de Rose Blush Prestige. This blush literally a-washes the cheeks in a luminous pinky-bronze glow that appears to come from within. Shop Z Palette here.
Did you know you can store more than eyeshadows and other powder products in your Z Palette? You can also depot creamy beauty items like lipsticks and concealers.
In this week's 'Tips & Tricks' post, we'll teach you how to depot your favorite lipsticks for your Z Palette using an oven and 10 Metal Pans. This quick trick saves you space both in your makeup drawer and in your suitcase when traveling! You can fit 16 Metal Pans into a Small Z Palette, 50 Metal Pans into a Large Z Palette, and 60 Metal Pans into a Pro Z Palette. That's a lot of lipstick!
Preparation: Collect the 10 lipsticks you would like to store in your Z Palette. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
Step 1: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Space the empty 10 Metal Pans across the baking sheet.
Step 2: Starting with one lipstick, remove the lid and twist product out of the tube. Using a butter knife or cuticle pusher, trim the product out of the tube and press product into one of the empty Metal Pans.
Step 3: Repeat this process until all 10 Metal Pans are full.
Step 4: Once preheated, place your baking sheet in the oven for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, checking regularly.
Step 5: After product appears level in Metal Pan, remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Once cooled, your depotted lipsticks are ready to be arranged in your Z Palette!
Tips: Every oven and lipstick is different, that is why we recommend you test this method first with an older lipstick you no longer care for. Some lipstick tubes contain more product than others. Make sure you don't overload your metal pan with too much product!
