I'm a bit of a Hollywood award season junkie so of course I had to tune into the People's Choice Awards last night. It's always nice to see actors get honored by their fans, but what I love to check out are the fashion and beauty trends. A few actressses stepped out with a bold fuschia or red lip, but for the most part the continual theme that played over and over was minimalist beauty. The People's Choice Awards is always a bit more relaxed than say the Oscars or Golden Globes, however "Young Hollywood" appeared gorgeous in that just-rolled-out-of-bed-ready-to-go look that we always try so hard to recreate. Who knew looking like you didn't even try could take some effort? To be honest, if you're prepping with the right tools and using the right products you could have your own "People's Choice" look in a short amount of time. In saying that, here are my top 5 picks to recreate last nights ongoing look:
Sexy bed head and tousled hair can be achieved by using a great texturizer product. To get Kristin Bell's minimalist tousled hair try using a product like Frederic Fekkai's Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel. Apply to damp hair at the roots for extra lift and all throughout to create texture. Try blow drying your hair with a diffuser head on your blow dryer. By using a diffuser it allows you to retain any natural curl or wave your hair may have. Simply flip your head over and start the drying process. If you'd like to invest in a award winning blow dryer that comes with a diffuser than check out the Featherweight Luxe.

To radiate from within. To seem as if they're walking on water. To look glamorous whilst still capturing the natural beauty they were born with. The Golden Globe actresses last night simply took my breath away with many bringing back one of my favorite trends: ethereal beauty. Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara (ok, maybe she was channeling he dark side of ethereal), Heidi Klum, Elle Macphereson, Emma Stone rocked my fashion core. Channel and recreate the major beauty trends of the Golden Globe awards by following these steps:
First off ladies, it's all about the preparation. Unless you're divinely blessed which let's face it only a select few of us are then we have to work, work, work for perfection and that all comes down to taking care of our skin. I know it's not always a sexy topic, but at the end of the day prepping your skin with a mask or serum can really make your makeup ever better! If you don't trust me, then trust Hollywood because most of them swear by GLAMGLOW. Created in Hollywood, for Hollywood, and little people like you and me of course, the GLAMGLOW Mud Mask! Quickly becoming a b-glowing staff favorite, this miracle mask gently exfoliates your face with green tea leaves and miracle mud dredged from the exotic South of France will leave your skin glowing from the inside out.
Let's talk about the mane. Up-do's, french chignon, 60's beehive, or Elvira Adams straight, there was plenty to talk about in the hair style department. However, I'm a sucker for soft waves a la Elle Macpherson who look absolutely stunning last night in a gorgeous gown and her signature beach tousled hair. The woman doesn't look a day over 35! To recreate her soft romantic curls it's all in the tools baby and my favorite is T3's Single Pass Whirl Curling Wand. It has a tapered barrel to allow for a loose and distressed curl that doesn't look so darn perfect which is exactly what we want! With all of T3 hair styling tools, the heat chosen remains the same throughout the entire styling process which also cuts your hair prep time in half!

The French seemed to steal the limelight and most of the awards at the 2012 Academy Awards, but none more so than Best Actor winner Jean Dujardin. The suave frenchmen looked just as debonair in real life as he did playing his silent film character in The Artist, which also won Best Picture. He looked regal from head to toe which came with a bit of help from a stylist and Talika! Celebirty stylist Louise Moon created his dapper look from shoes, to suit to skin! To ensure Jean looked bright-eyed for his big night she applied Talika's Eye Therapy Patch which helps to minimize dark circles and puffiness. These eye patches really get around Hollywood with co-best actor nominee Brad Pitt being a lover of this product to awaken tired eyes. Truly a red carpet Hollywood beauty secret...

Morning show host Kelly Ripa utilized the talented hands of celebrity hairstylist Oscar Blandi to transform her blonde hair into an elegant chignon with a modern twist for the 2012 Academy Awards. This classic stlye looked glamorous and understated but worked together nicely to compliment and show off her dress and her diamond earrings. If you have a special night planned Oscar has broken down this look to make it totally attainable for us if we have the right tools and determination:

If you hung out with me last night for our live tweeting of all the fashion and beauty looks as soon as they hit the carpet at the 2012 Academy Awards then you will know there was quite a bit of elegance and glamour. The awards show season runs over the course of a couple months with the main event, the Oscars, being the most important both from a career perspective as well as in fashion. Everybody knows you're supposed to save the best dress for last, but there were a few who played it safe and did the same darn thing again (Jolie AGAIN in black) and Emma Stone taking a slight copy-cat nod to Nicole Kidman's dress she wore to the awards in 2007. Ok, ok, Emma's was reddy-fuschia while Kidman's was classic red. Same, same but different....not really in this case.
The big color trends in gowns was an all out rival between the whites and the reds, with a few other colors thrown in for good measure. Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone all went for darker hues while Gwyneth Paltrow, Milla Jovovich, Jennifer Lopez, Giuliana Rancic and Rooney Mara all stuck with angelic creamy whites that proved to be a bold contrast against the red carpet. In terms of style of the dress, I have to say the whites took it home with two of them winning best dressed and best overall look in my opinion.
The one beauty trend I saw repeated with a vengeance was the 'ode to classic Hollywood' red lip with darker shaded in eyebrows and minimal other makeup. This is one of my absolute favorite looks which could be achieved easily with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Simone and Kevyn Aucoin's Precision Brow Pencil. In the hair category, I noticed that bangs are back with a...well... bang. Big ones that start from the back of the crown combined with the far over side part seen on Rooney Mara, Rose Byrne and Ellie Kemper.
Although there were many hits of the night, I found it nearly impossible to narrow it down to just one as I loved someone's hair but not necessarily their dress and I'm far to indecisive to pick a favorite. So, all in all my absolute favs were (in as much order as I could muster).....Giuliana Rancic in couture Tony Ward. Her dress and overall look literally took my breath away. The E! host really earned Best Dressed in my opinion. Next, Milla Jovovich who also brought the Hollywood glamour in a white beaded couture Elie Saab number and red lip too of course! See, it's all about the white dress this year! Next, I'm afraid to say Jennifer Lopez. This woman is the epitome of sexy in Zuhair Murad with her hair pulled back tightly off that gorgeous face. Some may think this is to sheer or to sexy for the Oscars but there is nobody else who could wear this dress and rock it than Miss J.Lo! My one lady in red, Michelle Williams looked ravishing in a backless Louis Vuitton gown and her signature Mia Farrow-esque hair teamed with another red lip perfected this look. She's had quite a bit of misses this award season it was nice to see her really shine that night.
And by default I have to include our girl Gwyneth Paltrow because she always nails a red carpet from head to toe, Octavia Spencer who proved a curvier girl can make fashion sexy and....Stacy Keibler. Don't really know who she is but her beau George Clooney and her earned best dressed couple. All in all it's safe to say this was a night befitting of Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth if we look to the classic Hollywood glam that took over the fashion and beauty trends seen at the 2012 Academy awards.

The annual Met Ball is by far the biggest night in fashion with celebrities, models, designers and the 'style set' coming out dressed to impress. Hosted by Vogue magazine, this event is known to be the fashion world's best red carpet event as well as the top social event in New York. If you'd like to attend next years you better start saving, tickets are a whopping $25,000 a pop with all proceeds going to the Costume Institute. Enough of the details, let's get on to the good stuff, i.e who wore it best, who gave good face and who was red carpet road kill….
By far the most jaw dropping, stunning look of the night from head to toe was actress Camilla Belle. She hasn't done to many movies as of late but she is known for her fantastic style and last night she nailed it in a Ralph Lauren Collection ivory tulle beaded dress with champagne python sandals. Truly the "Belle of the Ball' I immediately fell in love with her dark wine stained lip, bronzed cheeks and brooding brows. Get her wine kissed lips with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Phoebe. Kate Bosworth also rocked the typically winter trended dark stained lip with a slicked back braided chignon and flapper style feather dress.
Jessica Alba sparkled in a grecian style, burnished gold Michael Kors gown. One of the few who actually wore her hair down, it still looked elegant with a delicate pin curl set wave and again a dark lip! Are we on to a new summer trend here?
Cutie pie Emma Stone looked absolutely adorable in a red Lanvin dress with custom designed crystal flowers. I thought her hair perfectly matched the playfulness of her dress with a messy up do embellished with a crystal hair pin.

It seems the major hair trend from the 2012 Met Ball was the slick back! Bring back the mousse as the wet look seems to be all the rage when paired with an assortment of stylish chignons. From Kate Bosworth's classical braided bun, Gwyneth Paltrow's centre parted up do, to Gisele's matchy-matchy slick back that was fashionably coordinated with beau Tom Brady.
Not only does this type of hairstyle help accentuate the beauty of a rounded shoulder and collarbone, but it also helps us look younger. Pulling back the hair from your face in a tight elastic is like giving yourself a mini face lift. Beautiful actress Rosario Dawson had her chignon done by one of the greats, celebrity hairstylist to the stars Oscar Blandi, and we get the scoop on how to re-create this look ourselves:
Step 1: Prep the hair with Oscar Blandi Volumizing Spray.
Step 2: Blow-dry the hair with an emphasis on the roots to create lift and a solid foundation, but leave the ends of the hair damp.
Step 3: Create a left side part and pull the hair back tightly into a ponytail just above the nape of the neck.

Whether it was Rihanna and Chris Brown's stage side cuddling, the new 'no gratuitous skin exposure dress code', or Justin Timberlake's stellar musical comeback, there were many things that made the 2013 Grammys show a great night in both musical entertainment and people watching. Watching the red carpet arrivals, it was clear that a lot of musicians or their dates clearly did not get the memo on classying it up a bit more this year. However, if I were them I'd be a bit miffed because this new dress code came out only a few days prior to the awards show and many would have already had their outfits organized. A bit more of a pre-warning Grammy's organizers please!
I always find it interesting when some get the fashion all wrong but the hair and makeup just right. Miss Jo-to-the-Lo Jennifer Lopez for instance. Hello leg! For one Angelina Jolie already did the thigh high exposed cut-off dress at last year's Oscars so there was no need to re-introduce it however, her slick and swept back bun and sexy Cleopatra eye makeup worked perfectly. She has the most beautiful dewy skin and I loved that the eyes were the focal point of the night rather than that leg.
Oh Miss Taylor Swift even though I just want you to find love for more than a few months so you don't have to keep writing these break up songs I have to give you props for your Grammy style! Although I'm getting tired of the the 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' singer I did love her stunning grecian style dress and kempt-unkempt wraparound braided updo. She has that beautiful alabaster skin and the vanilla frosting shade of the dress with bronze lining along with simple fresh makeup really make her look like Aphrodite's sweet but unlucky in love sister.
If there was a lady in red award it would go to Rihanna who took notice of the new dress code and totally redeemed herself from last years revealing white number with a drop dead gorgeous red gown. Red is such a bold color and she really complimented the boldness of the dress with a soft, wavy hair do, matching red lip, and black rimmed eyeliner. From head to toe Rihanna was my absolute favorite of hte night!
Although many celebrity fingers walked E!'s Mani-Cam last night one in particular caught our eye. Singer Kelly Rowland kept it chic and simple last night with a nude manicure paired with metallic adornment on each ring finger. This was a breath of fresh air after to many jewel encrusted, talon nail rings walked the red carpet and screamed bad taste. Want to create the look below? Kelly is wearing RGB Cosmetics nail lacquer in Toast and Flint!
