Your wedding will be one of the most memorable moments in your life. From the dress to the decorations everything should be perfect and that includes your makeup. For my wedding five years ago I was so picky about not wanting to look like I had a pancake face that I ended up spending a butt load of money and doing it myself to make sure I looked like a more glamorous version of myself. If you don't plan on having a makeup artist then take a look at my picks below to create a beautiful makeup look for your wedding.
Firstly, the foundation is always one of the most important products as you want a formulation that is light and breathable. I always want my skin to be seen but perfected, not literally camoflaged and suffocating. The perfect foundation for this would be Jemma Kidd's Light As Air Foundation. This ultra-light product will provide a natural foundation for your skin along with a velvet feel and soft focus finish. Your skin will be left matte, without any shine for photos! This was also just featured in GOOP by Gwyneth Paltrow's makeup artist.
I don't always like to use a powder but for photos I think it's important to have just in case the nerves cause you to sweat and have more shine than usual. Paul & Joe's Kitty Matte Pressed Powder goes on effortlessly and feels weightless. Comes with a slightly darker shade for creating contour and a transluscent clear shade for a flawless shine free complexion. This line is also part of the Spring 2012 Meow Collection that is flying off the shelves!Read More »
Valentine’s Day is one of the perfect times to experiment with a new, romantic look. Getting made up for a hot date isn’t just important because it makes you feel confident and flirty, it also shows your date that this night out is important and that you want him to feel proud of being with you. Keep in mind that the most romantic look for Valentine’s Day is the one that makes you feel comfortable and yourself (because it’s not hot to worry about how you look).
During the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, you need to do some prep work. Just as an artist prepares a canvas before creating a beautiful piece of art, you must prepare yourself. Practice a daily skincare routine so your face is irresistibly soft and clear. Don’t forget about your lips. Achieve the softest lips ever with a Sara Happ lip scrub, which gently exfoliates the flaky, dry skin on your lips so they’re always supple. Use the Sara Happ sugar scrub every night, and follow it up with an ultra-moisturizing lip balm. Your lips will be so kissable that it will be hard for your date to not kiss and tell.Read More »
If you hung out with me last night for our live tweeting of all the fashion and beauty looks as soon as they hit the carpet at the 2012 Academy Awards then you will know there was quite a bit of elegance and glamour. The awards show season runs over the course of a couple months with the main event, the Oscars, being the most important both from a career perspective as well as in fashion. Everybody knows you're supposed to save the best dress for last, but there were a few who played it safe and did the same darn thing again (Jolie AGAIN in black) and Emma Stone taking a slight copy-cat nod to Nicole Kidman's dress she wore to the awards in 2007. Ok, ok, Emma's was reddy-fuschia while Kidman's was classic red. Same, same but different....not really in this case.
The big color trends in gowns was an all out rival between the whites and the reds, with a few other colors thrown in for good measure. Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Emma Stone all went for darker hues while Gwyneth Paltrow, Milla Jovovich, Jennifer Lopez, Giuliana Rancic and Rooney Mara all stuck with angelic creamy whites that proved to be a bold contrast against the red carpet. In terms of style of the dress, I have to say the whites took it home with two of them winning best dressed and best overall look in my opinion.
The one beauty trend I saw repeated with a vengeance was the 'ode to classic Hollywood' red lip with darker shaded in eyebrows and minimal other makeup. This is one of my absolute favorite looks which could be achieved easily with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Simone and Kevyn Aucoin's Precision Brow Pencil. In the hair category, I noticed that bangs are back with a...well... bang. Big ones that start from the back of the crown combined with the far over side part seen on Rooney Mara, Rose Byrne and Ellie Kemper.
Although there were many hits of the night, I found it nearly impossible to narrow it down to just one as I loved someone's hair but not necessarily their dress and I'm far to indecisive to pick a favorite. So, all in all my absolute favs were (in as much order as I could muster).....Giuliana Rancic in couture Tony Ward. Her dress and overall look literally took my breath away. The E! host really earned Best Dressed in my opinion. Next, Milla Jovovich who also brought the Hollywood glamour in a white beaded couture Elie Saab number and red lip too of course! See, it's all about the white dress this year! Next, I'm afraid to say Jennifer Lopez. This woman is the epitome of sexy in Zuhair Murad with her hair pulled back tightly off that gorgeous face. Some may think this is to sheer or to sexy for the Oscars but there is nobody else who could wear this dress and rock it than Miss J.Lo! My one lady in red, Michelle Williams looked ravishing in a backless Louis Vuitton gown and her signature Mia Farrow-esque hair teamed with another red lip perfected this look. She's had quite a bit of misses this award season it was nice to see her really shine that night.
And by default I have to include our girl Gwyneth Paltrow because she always nails a red carpet from head to toe, Octavia Spencer who proved a curvier girl can make fashion sexy and....Stacy Keibler. Don't really know who she is but her beau George Clooney and her earned best dressed couple. All in all it's safe to say this was a night befitting of Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth if we look to the classic Hollywood glam that took over the fashion and beauty trends seen at the 2012 Academy awards.

Have you ever walked down the street and noticed a woman wearing a lipstick that just doesn't seem to work for her? Sometimes in those instances it can come down to the confidence or style of the woman wearing it or other times it can plain come down to skin tones. Yes, just like foundations the lipstick you choose should compliment the color of your skin. A good rule of thumb when shopping for the perfect lip shade according to Jemma Kidd is to "test on the tip of your fingers. The skin there is very similar in colour and texture to that of your lips, so will give you a good idea as to what the color be."
If you want to get into the 'nitty gritty' of lipstick shopping I'll break it down for you. If you keep these rules in mind even the brightest or scariest shades can suit you:
Porcelain to paler skin typically have a pink skin tone so will suit colors with a cool base. Scarlet reds, brownish pinks and soft apricots compliment this skin tone very well. Be fun and go with a classic red like Jemma Kidd's Ulimate Lipstick Duo in Scarlett.
Fair to olive skin tones more often that not have more of a yellow skin tone so will suit warmer based shades like nudes and pinks. The right shade can be tough to find these that don't have to much blue or orange in them like the Hi-Shine Hydrating Glosstick SPF 15 in Hibiscus.
But wait! As if to make things even more difficult, some people can have both pink and yellow skin tones which are then considered neutral and can wear both cool and warm based shades. Olive skin tones get to pull off my favorites and one of the season's biggest trends, orange. Try Kevyn Aucoin's Elegant Lip Gloss in Vizcaya.
For those dark exotic skin tones, deep warm shades of red, gold or espresso will look stunning. Stand out from the crowd with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Phoebe, a shimmering bronzed wine.
If you're still unsure what all this means, if you naturally gravitate to cool colors as these best suit you, you will have a pink tone. If the opposite is true and you favour wamer colors, you will have a warm, yellow tone. Class dismissed!Read More »
The annual Met Ball is by far the biggest night in fashion with celebrities, models, designers and the 'style set' coming out dressed to impress. Hosted by Vogue magazine, this event is known to be the fashion world's best red carpet event as well as the top social event in New York. If you'd like to attend next years you better start saving, tickets are a whopping $25,000 a pop with all proceeds going to the Costume Institute. Enough of the details, let's get on to the good stuff, i.e who wore it best, who gave good face and who was red carpet road kill….
By far the most jaw dropping, stunning look of the night from head to toe was actress Camilla Belle. She hasn't done to many movies as of late but she is known for her fantastic style and last night she nailed it in a Ralph Lauren Collection ivory tulle beaded dress with champagne python sandals. Truly the "Belle of the Ball' I immediately fell in love with her dark wine stained lip, bronzed cheeks and brooding brows. Get her wine kissed lips with Jouer's Hydrating Lipstick in Phoebe. Kate Bosworth also rocked the typically winter trended dark stained lip with a slicked back braided chignon and flapper style feather dress.
Jessica Alba sparkled in a grecian style, burnished gold Michael Kors gown. One of the few who actually wore her hair down, it still looked elegant with a delicate pin curl set wave and again a dark lip! Are we on to a new summer trend here?
Cutie pie Emma Stone looked absolutely adorable in a red Lanvin dress with custom designed crystal flowers. I thought her hair perfectly matched the playfulness of her dress with a messy up do embellished with a crystal hair pin.

Festival season is here so it's time to bring out your kaftans, american flag inspired shirt dress, motorcycle boots and indian headdresses! So, that's a few helpful hints for fashion but we need to be coordinating this amazing head to toe look with an easy breezy makeup look that screams natural beauty. The last thing you want to be wearing to an all day, let alone all weekend music festival is a face full of foundation and weighted down mascara that will sweat, run and leave you not looking so hot in time for your favorite band ever. Leave the experts to this as we share some of our favorite picks to leave you looking simply gorgeous for a weekend of fun in the sun.
The secret to summer music festival beauty is in large part due to an amazing tinted moisturizer and natural looking bronzer. This is by far the most important base and after you have found this, the rest is easy. One of my personal favorites due to it's radiant nature is Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector. Whatever color you choose will give a natural finish and lightweight feel that makes your skin look like it's glowing. It also contains SPF 20 so you're protected while you're under the hot sun listening to your favorite bands. Enhance your luminous skin with a hint of bronzer courtesy of Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Bronzing Veil, a unique bronzer that matches every skin tone and gives skin a natural glow from the inside out. Lightly brush a bit on cheekbones and forehead for a perfectly sun kissed placement.
Next, take a sun kissed peachy coral shade like By Terry Blush Terrybly Ultimate Radiance Blush in Beach Bomb and sweep underneath where you lay the bronzer and lightly over the apples of the cheeks to warm up your face and compliment your golden tan.
For bit of dewiness apply EF | STUDIO's Eye Gloss Transparent to the lower lids. It leaves a sensual finish to the eyes and instantly warms up a dull skin tone. This is my new secret and love the way it makes my eyes look! It's so simple but looks amazing!
Finish the look off with Jouer Cosmetics Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Sunset. Just a hint of color is needed to draw attention to your puckeroos.
Whether you decide to go with these or your own variations try to keep it soft and subtle. Festivals are about a relaxed vibe so try to mimic that feeling in your fashion and beauty looks!
A lot of people underestimate how hard it is to find a foundation. It's like a second skin so you want it to feel like a part of you and finding that perfect facial companion is trickier than it seems. Although choosing a foundation is totally based on personal preference I've gathered a few of my favorite standouts to help you navigate through the endless choices of a woman's go to cosmetic product:
Ellis Faas Skin Veil Pen has made it through my checklist for numerous reasons. For one, the silky smooth, barely there formulation covers up flaws and leaves skin looking incredibly radiant. Secondly, for those who don't want to use fingers or a sponge, the application of this product is made so efficient due to it's applicator brush that allows you to get in between nostril curves and facial contours. Minerals diffuse light across the skin's surface reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!
Although I'm not technically able to call it a foundation, Jouer's Luminizing Moisture Tint is more like a tinted moisturizer but gives great coverage if you have unproblematic skin. It evens out uneven skin tone and also camouflages fine lines with light diffusing ingredients while also protecting from harmful UV rays with SPF 20!
Christened the makeup foundation for dummies, By Terry's Light Expert Perfecting Foundation Brush is an anti-blemish, anti-shadow and anti-dullness formulation that instantly illuminates the face. It's featherweight texture can be deceiving because it actually gives deceptive coverage and hyaluronic acid microspheres work to plump up wrinkles for an instant lifting effect.
For those who like a thicker coverage, a staff favorite as well as Kim Kardashian's is Kevyn Aucoin's Sensual Skin Enhancer. Housed in a tiny jar, we prefer to apply this product with fingertips rather than a sponge due to it's thicker consistency and ability to warm it up by massaging it through your fingertips for better application. It can be used as a concealer or for the perfect highlighter as well! One thing you can rely on is complete coverage at all times. Our suggestion is that less is more with the Sensual Skin Enhancer. Apply to a freshly moisturized and primed skin and apply more as desired.

For the b-NATURAL girl, the products featured give the look of pure beauty and many are organic in nature…
After you've prepped your base with your favorite foundation, sweep a bit of the ILIA Multi-Stick in I Put A Spell On You over the cheekbones. This romantic tangerine shade offers a natural fresh faced flush that instantly warms up the whole complexion. Made with Vitamin E and Shea Butter, it is also very conditioning for the skin. Draw in mistletoe kisses with sultry eyes courtesy of the RMS Beauty Cream Eyeshadow in Seduce, an earthy-brown bronze that adds subtle shimmer and really makes eyes pop. Create heightened drama by lining the upper and lower eyelids with Vapour Organic Beauty's Mesmerize Eyeliner in Black and finish off by coating the lashes in the Ultimate Mascara by Becca Cosmetics.
Finally, no look is complete without some color on the lips. We love the ILIA Lipstick in Humble Me because it's the perfect nude with honey brown tones and best of all doesn't dry out lips! Add a touch of Jouer's Cosmetics Essential Lip Enhancer to the cupid's bow and middle part of bottom lip to create a heart shape that will play nicely with soft lighting. Make an entrance and an exit that nobody will forget because they will be wondering where that wift of gorgeous spicy scent came from - White Patchouli by Tom Ford finishes off this radiant holiday look with bergamot, peony, and coriander notes.Read More »
Jouer means 'to play' in French and that's exactly what we did at yesterdays video shoot! Some great makeup tutorials are coming your way, highlighting some of the spring/summer makeup trends that are not only gorgeous but also easy to re-create on yourself. We were very excited to get the chance to work with Jouer Cosmetics new spring product additions during the shoot.
I'm a huge fan of this makeup brand because of their accessible and easy to travel with packaging, amazing sheer and creamy formulations that accentuate your natural beauty, and of course beautiful color selections. New in for spring are Jouer's Cream Eyeshadow Crayons in Abstract (soft black), Avant Garde (navy charcoal), Rococo (french vanilla), Renaissance (bronzed plum) and Baroque in soft gold. All of these crayons have a beautiful shimmer to them, are crease-resistant and water proof.
Sometime I'm in a rush in the morning and don't have time to use multiple products. That's when products like Jouer's Tint in Honeysuckle come in handy. This new tint comes in my favorite color for cheeks (peach) and literally adds a subtle flush of color that looks completely natural. You can also sweep it across your lips and out the door you go!
Also new in from Jouer are six gorgeous lip products. If you like more bold and solid color you'll love the Tinted Lip Enhancer in Bellini, Cosmo and Shiraz. Or if you desire high gloss shine and a bit of color you'll like the Pearl Lip Enhancers in Nude, Peach, and Rose. Not only do all of these give great color to the lips without feeling sticky, they also serve as a conditioning and plumping lip treatment with Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil.

Pastels are everywhere this season in both fashion and beauty. Whether it's a peach blouse or a lilac eye, pastels almost always make an appearance in the spring, regardless of what year it is. Looking to implement this palette into your daily routine? Here are 3 easy ways you can play with pastels, without breaking the bank.
Peach is flattering to every skin tone because it resembles a natural flush. All you have to do is figure out the right tone of peach to flatter your complexion.
Fair - We recommend a softer hue with hints of pink, like IT Cosmetics Airbrush Blush Stain - Sweet Cheeks.
Medium - Go for pigments with more of an orange tint, try Jouer Cosmetics Tint in Fawn.
Darker - Complemented by a peach with a redder base, we recommend By Terry Blush Terrybly - Ultimate Radiance Blush in Beach Bomb.
Say it with a Scarf
If you are new to pastel hues or if there is a new one you want to try, start with a scarf. Colors take a while to get used to, and may not all complement your coloring. Before investing in an expensive dress or jacket, test the trend with something smaller. If you aren't a scarf fan, this can also be accomplished with a necklace, clutch, or ballet flat.
I Have an EYE-dea
Pastel eyes! Eyeshadow is a lovely way to pose in pastels, and there is a flattering way to wear every shade! The trick to looking trendy and not … from the 80's, is to combine the pastel with a neutral shade. Here are some examples to get you going.
- Blend a frosty pink lid into a light grey crease, try ILIA Multi-Stick in Tenderly.
- Combine mint green shimmer with a caramel brown eyeliner, try Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerize Eye Shimmer Treatment in Smitten.
- Mix a classic black smoky eye with a baby blue highlight, try By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadow in Paradise Island.

As the temperature increases outside, so does the amount of oil and sweat our bodies produce during the day. We've polled our b-glowing.com beauty experts to provide you with their top tips and tricks to control shine this season.
Adjust Your Face Wash:
If you are noticing an oilier complexion, we recommend changing up your skincare routine, starting with your daily wash. Creamier cleansers, formulated for hydration, are great for dryer winter months, but in the summertime switch to something more lightweight with oil-controlling ingredients. We recommend Erno Laszlo Oil-Control Cleansing Bar to balance your skin and keep oil at bay.
Don't Skimp on the Moisturizer:
Even if you are feeling oily, it's still important to moisturize after cleansing your face. Moisturizers act as a barrier between your pores and your makeup, and can also provide SPF protection and other skincare benefits like anti-aging treatment and, in this case, oil-control. Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel absorbs shine and controls excess oil and sweat throughout the day, without over-drying the skin. We love this as a primer for makeup. Great for men too!
Lighten Your Makeup Load:
In hotter temps, heavy foundation can melt into pores, increasing oil production and causing breakouts. In the summer season, reach for lightweight makeup formulas like tinted moisturizers or sunscreens. One of our favorites is Jouer Cosmetics Matte Moisture Tint. Available in multiple shades, this oil-free, water resistant, mattifying tinted moisturizer controls shine, and contains SPF 15 protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Tempted to touch-up? Beware! Piling on additional layers of powder not only looks cakey, but can contribute to even more oil production, and clogged pores. Before you reach for that compact, try a disposable blotting paper instead. One of our favorites is the Evening Aburatorigami Blotting Papers by Tatcha. These all-natural, charcoal-infused papers leave no residue on the skin, and won't disturb your makeup. With 40 sheets per pack, you can touch-up-and-trash, without spreading oil or bacteria around.Read More »

Peach, coral, juicy pink, orchid purple, fuchsia, turquoise, banana yellow and cornflower blue: The hottest colors in makeup this season are bright. So you don’t end up matching the latest Easter egg basket trend (or an Easter egg itself), there are two rules of thumb to remember when it comes to summer makeup:
1. Less is more.
2. One or the other: Go for either bright eyes or bright lips – not both.Read More »
