Makeup brand ELLIS FAAS was the cosmetics brand behind the dewy skin and natural lips seen at the VPL Autumn/Winter runway show at this February's New York Fashion Week. Makeup artist Romy Soleimani used an assortment of the products to create an approachable and natural look, with the focus being on the eyes. Romy used ELLIS FAAS Skin Veil Foundation to createa a dewy base, then ELLIS FAAS Eye Lights in E301 to highlight the inner corners of the eye as well as the upper cheekbones and finished off the look with ELLIS FAAS Concealer in S201 to lighten the lips. Romy said, "The overall effect was an ethereal skin, and the highlight of the cheek created a flash as the models walked down the runway."

Since Imitation's models had the best looking skin at last years Fashion Week it was no wonder skyn ICELAND was invited back again to prep the model's skin to perfection and make sure they had the perfect canvas to apply the finishing stage: makeup! Goody bags were in abundance as well as founder Sarah Kugleman giving out "stress tests" backstage! Yes, I know their lives seem perfect but even models can be under backstage stress, running from show to show and constantly being primped, poked and squezzed into outfits for four days in a row. skyn ICELAND estheticians were also on hand backstage to calm and detoxify model's skin by doing mini facials. To create your own runway worthy prepped skin follow these steps from skyn ICELAND.
Step 1: Cleanse & remove make-up with self foaming Glacial Cleansing Cloths.
Step 2: Exfoliate with Nordic Skin Peel.
Step 3: Prep eyes with Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels for 5 minutes to depuff and diminish dark circles.
Step 5: Treat eyes with Icelandic Relief Eye Cream.

Fashion Week is only two days away! I'm sure you have your outfits lined up for all the shows and events like Fashion's Night Out but what about your beauty items? We've compiled a New York Fashion Week Survival Kit filled with our must haves to get you through the long and hot lines prior to a show, stay-put makeup that won't crease, on-trend lacquers and much more!
With so many parties going into the early morning the one product that will allow you to work all day and stay out all night is skyn ICELAND's Hydro Cool Firming Gels. Although we're not advising this as a continual lifestyle as it will wreak havoc on your skin, we will make an exception for this very fashionable occasion. The first area to show signs of fatigue is typically the eyes but these cooling patches will help to firm skin, de-puff bags and all over refresh tired looking eyes and make them good as new!
To get into your favorite show might require a lot of standing around which equals tired legs and aching feet. Mama Mio's Lucky Legs Cooling Serum to the rescue to make sure your legs look and feel great all day long. This mini-spa treatment leaves a subtle sparkly shimmer on your shins and instantly cools and soothes achy limbs.
Frizzies are nobody's friend and you certainly don't want to be fighting that battle during Fashion Week. An amazing outfit and gorgeous makeup can be easily missed when you have hair stragglers blowing in the wind. Serge Normant's Meta Lush Volumizer tames flyaways and gives amazing volume in just a few spritzes on wet or dry hair. Your day will run smoothly, just like your hair!
For crease free eyes you need Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes! With 'bullet' like packaging that is purse friendly and a formulation that will have your eyeshadow stay in place through sweat and humidity, this is a must have for Fashion Week. Speaking of sweat, your brow and forehead is likely to perspire and as soon as you feel dewy pull a Tatcha Blotting Paper out of your purse and gently blot it away while makeup remains intact!
When you're surrounded by so many people in such close quarters you want to be mindful of overpowering perfumes. If there's one that everyone will appreciate it's Gratitude by Zorica of Malibu. This softly sweet and summery scent of grapefruit and vanilla is utterly delectable and best of all is made with 100% natural ingredients of Jojoba and essential oils.
For our nails we look to Color Club's In The Limelight, a purple-blue hybrid that will have you on trend for fall and will definitely get you noticed when you're tapping your hands to the pulsating beat of the music at your favorite show!
Happy Fashion Week everyone!Read More »
Shop all the Butter London nail lacquers here!
Another season of great fashion has ended so it's time to reflect on some gorgeous nail trends seen at New York Fashion Weeks Spring/Summer 2013 shows. Butter London is responsible for creating gorgeous bespoke shades for many of the hottest shows and this year was no exception. However, I did notice there seemed to be a love of natural manicured nails at many of the shows at you can see below.
Starting off my favorite of the bunch was from the VEDA show. The inspiration for this show was a 'Cosmic Nail' with a mix of mauve and olive with celestial effects. To add an edge to the look, a glossy black stripe was added for a geometric element. The nails were complimented by soft makeup and mohawks. Recreate the Veda look yourself with a mix of Sloane Ranger, Toff, Knackered and Gobsmacked.
It was all about rock and roll for the Kaleen show which translated to a grungy, distressed nail. Using black as the base a nude khaki was then layered in jagged strokes from the top of the nail bed upwards creating a backwards french manicure. For added dimension, matte out the only the black section, creating a dual textured look full of disheveled luxury. Get the look with Yummy Mummy and your favorite black lacquer!
Erin Featherston is known for her signature girly meets industrial edge and this season she complimented flirty, feminine silhouettes with a soft metallic nail. Metallic nails mimic the look of jewelry so the nails served as the eye catching bling in lavender and silver tones. Recreate this with Butter London's Dodgy Barnett and Shag.
Band of Outsiders and The Row were all about the naked, minimalist nail. Squeaky clean nails aren't as easy to do as you think. It's like being naked and having your flaws on full display so make sure your nails beds are buffed, filed and properly cleaned underneath. Start by applying a base coat of the the Horsepower Nail Fertilizer to strengthen and then Butter London's Nail Foundation to create an even perfect foundation. Finish off with the Hardwear P.D Quick Topcoat or Matte Finish to leave nails minimalistically gorgeous!
