I'm a bit of a Hollywood award season junkie so of course I had to tune into the People's Choice Awards last night. It's always nice to see actors get honored by their fans, but what I love to check out are the fashion and beauty trends. A few actressses stepped out with a bold fuschia or red lip, but for the most part the continual theme that played over and over was minimalist beauty. The People's Choice Awards is always a bit more relaxed than say the Oscars or Golden Globes, however "Young Hollywood" appeared gorgeous in that just-rolled-out-of-bed-ready-to-go look that we always try so hard to recreate. Who knew looking like you didn't even try could take some effort? To be honest, if you're prepping with the right tools and using the right products you could have your own "People's Choice" look in a short amount of time. In saying that, here are my top 5 picks to recreate last nights ongoing look:
Sexy bed head and tousled hair can be achieved by using a great texturizer product. To get Kristin Bell's minimalist tousled hair try using a product like Frederic Fekkai's Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel. Apply to damp hair at the roots for extra lift and all throughout to create texture. Try blow drying your hair with a diffuser head on your blow dryer. By using a diffuser it allows you to retain any natural curl or wave your hair may have. Simply flip your head over and start the drying process. If you'd like to invest in a award winning blow dryer that comes with a diffuser than check out the Featherweight Luxe.
A sexy smokey eye was in abundance as seen on host Kaley Cuoco below. You always need at least 3 shades to create a true smokey eye and Jemma Kidd Makeup School makes it super easy on you to take the guessing out of it because of their Essentials Smoky Palette. You get a selection of matte and shimmer eyeshadows as well as a lip & cheek stain and Lipgloss!
In pair with a smokey eye should be a subtle beige or nude lip as seen on Julianne Hough below. Jouer's Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Oasis has a creamy deep nude hue that works well as an overall basic to keep in your purse with your Jemma Kidd Smokey Eye Palette!
All of the girls had highlighted cheekbones and an allover glow about them like Faith Hill below, which doesn't always come natural. If you want to create the "illusion" of glowing skin then there is no better product than EF | STUDIO's Illuminating Powder. In one sweep across the cheekbone or forehead, your skin will appear radiant as if your skin has been captured in the perfect lighting!
Simplicity was key as seen at this year's People's Choice Awards and is something you can easily create at home with the right products!
According to the Beauty Counter Blog on Style.com, "women the world over are letting out a collective purr" over the Kitty Blusher Sticks from the upcoming Paul & Joe Cosmetics Spring 2012 Meow Collection that will be dropping this February. The gorgeous floral print packaging the brand is known for still remains, but what has been added is a pop up "cat in the hat" as you turn the lipstick inspired blush stick. Even though I'm on "team dog" I can't help but be won over by the kitschy-kitty-cute Meow Collection. The Paul and Joe Kitty Blusher Sticks are a cream to powder formula that comes in three different wearable shades. Glamour Puss (a pearlescent beige, ideal for highlighting), Minou (classic rose) and Catfight is a bold coral. For only $28 each, you can choose what kitty to take home from the pet store! If you fell in love wiith Paul and Joe's Kitty Lipstick from last season you'll love this!
The staff at b-glowing.com all have our favorites spanning makeup, haircare, fragrance and more which is why we combined them all in our staff picks page! There's something about a staff pick that perks my attention just like when I'm at the video store and looking for suggestions. In beauty, many times we find new products through word of mouth so it was great to see that the Kitty Blusher Stick from Paul & Joe Cosmetics Spring 2012 Meow Collection made the staff picks in People magazines Style Watch! Beauty assistant Maddy Zollo loved the Paul & Joe Blush Stick because, "this cute cat-inspired blush adds some fun to your beauty routine." For only $28 this blush stick has a carved out cat-in-the-hat while the other side is smooth. Simply draw three lines with the smooth side across your cheek like a cat scratch and then blend! The Limited Edition Kitty
Blusher Stick comes in three shades: Glamour Puss 001 (pearlescent beige), Minou 002 (soft pink) and Catfight 003 (tangerine).
