As the temperature increases outside, so does the amount of oil and sweat our bodies produce during the day. We've polled our b-glowing.com beauty experts to provide you with their top tips and tricks to control shine this season.
Adjust Your Face Wash:
If you are noticing an oilier complexion, we recommend changing up your skincare routine, starting with your daily wash. Creamier cleansers, formulated for hydration, are great for dryer winter months, but in the summertime switch to something more lightweight with oil-controlling ingredients. We recommend Erno Laszlo Oil-Control Cleansing Bar to balance your skin and keep oil at bay.
Don't Skimp on the Moisturizer:
Even if you are feeling oily, it's still important to moisturize after cleansing your face. Moisturizers act as a barrier between your pores and your makeup, and can also provide SPF protection and other skincare benefits like anti-aging treatment and, in this case, oil-control. Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel absorbs shine and controls excess oil and sweat throughout the day, without over-drying the skin. We love this as a primer for makeup. Great for men too!
Lighten Your Makeup Load:
In hotter temps, heavy foundation can melt into pores, increasing oil production and causing breakouts. In the summer season, reach for lightweight makeup formulas like tinted moisturizers or sunscreens. One of our favorites is Jouer Cosmetics Matte Moisture Tint. Available in multiple shades, this oil-free, water resistant, mattifying tinted moisturizer controls shine, and contains SPF 15 protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Tempted to touch-up? Beware! Piling on additional layers of powder not only looks cakey, but can contribute to even more oil production, and clogged pores. Before you reach for that compact, try a disposable blotting paper instead. One of our favorites is the Evening Aburatorigami Blotting Papers by Tatcha. These all-natural, charcoal-infused papers leave no residue on the skin, and won't disturb your makeup. With 40 sheets per pack, you can touch-up-and-trash, without spreading oil or bacteria around.
