summer hair

why we love this look

We believe summer hair should be easy and carefree, but that doesn’t mean it should spend all summer tied in a sloppy bun. Master these sleek ponytails, big waves and messy braids to look super chic at all your summer soirees.

Romantic Waves

Start with dry, clean hair. Prep your hair with a heat protectant like Rene Furterer LISSEA Thermal Protecting Smoothing Spray to prevent damage and boost shine.

To create soft, loose waves, wrap small sections of hair around a wide barrel curling iron, like the T3 Whirl Convertible. After curling, let each section cool in your hand for a few seconds before moving on to the next.

To add extra volume, mist with David Mallet’s Le Volume Spray No. 2. Then, break up and smooth out your waves by carefully brushing them out with Oribe's Round Brush.

To hold everything in place, finish with Sachajuan’s Strong Hair Spray.

Beachy Boho Braids

Start with dry hair. Note: if your hair is naturally straight, curl and brush out beforehand.

To create added texture and volume, mist with John Masters Organics Sea Salt Spray with Lavender. Next, use the Mason Pearson Tail Comb to create a 2 inch section of hair on one side, right above your ear. Split this section in three to create a regular braid. Tie it off when you are half way down. Repeat on the other side.

Grab another 2" section of hair directly underneath the first braid, braiding the entire section. Tie off halfway down with an Invisibobble Nano, and repeat on the other side.

Bring the two top braids around to the back of the head, pin them in place with bobby pins. Repeat this process with the bottom two braids, as well. Gently pull on the edges of the braids to make them flatter, wider, and more voluminous.

Next, the remaining hair just below the bobby pins and braid into a fishtail braid. Tie off the end of the braid and loosen it by pulling gently on the sides. Finish with R+Co Outer Space hair spray.
